This Technical or Professional Apprenticeship is designed to provide a structured career path for construction employees. It helps you build the skills in your business so that staff are ready to take on higher level jobs. It’s for Employees in the construction sector across building, civil engineering, specialist and technical and professional roles. It’s also aimed at attracting new people to the industry from a broad range of backgrounds.

Qualifications

SCQF level 8

Your employee will study for an SCQF level 8 in Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts.

SCQF level 9

Your employee will study for an SCQF level 9 in one of:

  • Construction Site Management: Building and Civil Engineering
  • Construction Site Management: Highways Maintenance
  • Construction Site Management: Residential Development
  • Construction Contracting Operations Management: Estimating
  • Construction Contracting Operations Management: Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Contracting Operations Management: Planning
  • Construction Contracting Operations Management: General
  • Built Environment Design Management

How much will it cost?

Training

We will contribute towards the training costs, paying the learning provider directly in incremental payments throughout the course of the apprenticeship.

Use the contribution tables to work out the funding level for this framework:

Modern Apprenticeship Contribution Table (16-24 age group)
Modern Apprenticeship Contribution Table (25+ age group)

An enhanced funding contribution is paid for employees who are aged 16 – 19. For those who are disabled and care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29.

Salary

Like any other employee of your business, you’ll pay the Modern Apprentice's wages. This is not set by SDS, but we do encourage all employees to pay the living wage. Remember, you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.

Time to complete

It will take between 12-24 months to complete.
