Job overview

Working in an office based environment and outdoors around the city you will assist with inspecting and arranging maintenance of Glasgow’s network of roads, pavements and street furniture. Based at LES Roads Maintenance 231 George Street and/or Gartcraig Roads Depot you will be trained to carry out surveys, estimate and plan works, input data, complete paperwork and assist with enquiries.

Your Modern Apprenticeship consists of a 4 year programme attending a further education College where you will complete an NC/HNC Civil Engineering qualification and complete SVQ Level 3 MA.

What might a typical day in this job look like?

Based at LES Roads Maintenance 231 George Street and/or Gartcraig Roads Depot you will be trained to carry out surveys, estimate and plan works, input data, complete paperwork and assist with enquiries.

What will I learn?

Your Modern Apprenticeship consists of a 4 year programme attending a further education College where you will complete an NC/HNC Civil Engineering qualification and complete SVQ Level 3 MA.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Eligibility criteria applies.

Minimum of 2 higher & 6 standard grades/National 4/5 (Maths, English and technical subjects desirable).

Driving: - While a full licence is not essential in year one, it is desirable to obtain a licence.

Technical: - You will need to be able to read and understand technical drawings and diagnose faults.

Good communication skills and manner when dealing with members of the public and fellow workers.
