£15,000 - £17,000 per year Edinburgh Full-time (37.5 Hours) Edinburgh Napier University 25/06/2018 SCQF level 10 - Honours Degree

Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic and ambitious 2018 school leaver or first year uni student seeking to change course, interested in becoming a software developer whilst working towards a university degree, learning on the job and earning a salary?

Our Graduate Apprenticeship programme delivers this exciting new way for you to gain a BSc (Hons) Degree in Software Development from Edinburgh Napier University - whilst gaining valuable industry experience that will set you apart from your peers.

If your application is successful, you will join our team here at Infographics - a Microsoft Gold Partner and software manufacturer, developing leading business applications for large law firms, industry regulators and the UK fire and rescue service.

What might a typical day in this job look like?

As a full-time Software Development GA, you will study similar subjects to those completing a traditional software engineering undergraduate course, and achieve the equivalent-level of qualification over a four-year period. The key difference is you will undertake your learning, with the additional support of a personal mentor, as a mix of classroom and work-based training and assessment – whilst engaged in paid employment.

Initially, you will complete 1 day per week classroom learning at university, and 4 days per week workplace learning. You will learn about our software products, development and client support processes, testing and coding - building your skills and responsibility as you progress.

What will I learn?

As a Microsoft Gold Partner, we use all the very latest Microsoft tools and technologies. You will have the chance to work with these and to operate within a structured 'Scrum' development process. You will spend time learning about multiple areas of the business (support, testing, development) and gain exposure to different aspects of the software development life-cycle.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to study for professional Microsoft qualifications - as well as completing your degree qualification. This unique range of skills, qualifications and experience will help you build long-term career success. You will also have the opportunity to secure a permanent role with Infographics following graduation.

What qualification or qualities are required?

We are seeking high-quality candidates who are eligible to attain entry to leading universities through the traditional route, but recognise the benefits of taking this alternative GA path. To apply, you are therefore required to have achieved at a single sitting a minimum of 4 B grades at ‘Higher’, or 3 B grades at ‘A’ Level – including Maths. (Note: you must currently be resident in Scotland to be eligible).
