Job overview

The Drax Group is one of the world's leading engineering businesses. At Drax we believe in developing the skills of our employees and we recognise the contribution that apprentices can make to a business, that's why we invest in a 4-year technical apprenticeship program. We're looking for people like you to join us in August 2019 to get your foot on the career ladder with Drax (wearing the right safety boots obviously!).

The apprenticeship training program is four years long. You'll spend the first-year training at East Kilbride Group Training Association full time, Monday to Friday, you'll then spend the next 3 years working at Daldowie Treatment Works, learning from experienced craftspeople and technicians. By the end of the 4 years you'll come out with an SVQ level 3 and an NC in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi Disciplined Engineering. Further training and development is a key part of your career journey at Drax as well, and this comes in many forms such as on the job training, working at different sites, or further qualifications.

What will I learn?

Candidates will work towards SVQ's at levels 2 & 3. They will also be required to obtain a suitable academic qualification in an engineering discipline to at least National Certificate (NC) level, progressing to HNC where relevant.

What qualification or qualities are required?

It is preferred that candidates have or expect to gain National 5 Grades in English, Maths, Physics and Craft/Technical subjects at Band C (or above). It is also preferred that they will be literate, numerate with some computing and keyboard skills. Candidates also must have good personal presentation and communications skills.
