Job overview

Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit office based Modern Apprentices. Our Modern Apprentices will be based in various Council establishments (depending on current vacancies) and will earn attractive salaries while working towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification at SCQF Level 6. Successful applicants will be provided with a positive opportunity to pursue permanent employment and a worthwhile career within this Local Authority.

What will I learn?

You will undertake an SVQ in Business Administration at Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) over a 12 month period and you will learn the skills required to work within an office environment including good communication skills, team working skills as well as the ability to work on your own initiative. You will be trained on any bespoke computer based systems and have the opportunity to work within an exciting, ever-changing environment.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Applicants, must be aged between 17 and 19 and living in Renfrewshire. In some circumstances we can accept applications from those aged up to 24 and in addition, if you are disabled or care experience up to the age of 29 you will still be eligible to apply. Please contact Renfrewshire Council to discuss.

You must have achieved a minimum of two Highers at grade C or above (or equivalent). Applications will also be accepted from applicants who have recently sat their exams and are waiting on the results. It is essential that modern apprentices have good interpersonal and communication skills. It is also desirable that they have the ability to work both as a team member and on their own initiative.

Whilst we welcome applications from all, we would particularly invite applicants from those sections of our community who are currently under-represented within our office-based Modern Apprenticeship Programme. This includes those who are disabled or care-experienced or from Black and Ethnic Minority communities.
