Job overview

We are a 35 bed residential care home on Ferry Road, Edinburgh, for older people, some of whom have dementia and can no longer live independently. We believe that each resident should enjoy the highest possible quality of life, surrounded by love, friendship and support within a Christian environment. Our Care Assistants play a vital role in this.

As a Care Assistant you will provide support in activities of daily living tasks as well as assist residents with personal care. You will be working as a key worker for a small number of residents with responsibilities for their care plan and meeting their daily needs. You will work as part of the care staff team to ensure the residents are able to live a life that they desire, within the safety and parameters of 24-hour care.

We are looking for Care Assistants who can demonstrate compassion and empathy in their approach to caring for older people. This could be either through previous roles in social care or in other roles.

You will be providing personal care to residents, as well as supporting them to take part in a wide range of activities. This includes arts and crafts, music, trips and regular themed events.

Can you show us how you would treat our residents, for whom our home is their home, with the dignity and respect they have a right to expect?

Salary: £16,707 per annum, rising to £17,126 after one year

Details: Permanent position

Benefits: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme; season ticket loan; an employee assistance programme.

What will I learn?

If you have the right values for our organisation, you will be supported by a programme of continuous training and development. This will include participation in an SVQ 2 (SCQF Level 6) in Social Services and Healthcare following a successful probationary period.

What qualification or qualities are required?

We are looking for a minimum of National 5s, including English.

Appointment subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK and PVG Scheme membership.
