As a successful applicant you will plan and implement activities and experiences for young children in an early years environment. You will be working as part of a team of nursery staff to support the development of young children. Our Modern Apprentices play a key role in the nursery setting and gain an understanding of what early years education is truly about.
You will attend class at our Training Centre for SVQ Level 3, in Social Services, Children and Young People and earn while your learn. After completing this qualification you will be fully qualified as a Nursery Practitioner.
This is an apprenticeship lasting roughly 18 months with funding available for candidates aged 16-19 and 20-24, if you are disabled or care experience up to age 29 you are eligible to apply. Successful applicants are required to become a member of the PVG scheme. PVG expenses will be met by the employer.
Hours worked will usually be between 35 - 40hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 6.00pm. The rate of pay will be set by the employer, this may be the NMW for apprentices which is £3.70 per hour (rising after 12 months to NMW for your age if you are over 19 years old).
During your modern apprenticeship you will gain skills in communication, reflective practice, working with others and building positive relationships. You will learn the benefits of play for children and young people, learning and development of children and young people how to put theory in to practice.
3 Standard Grades/Intermediates/Nationals - one of which must be English – (Grade 3, Intermediate 2 or National 5 is preferable). It is also essential that you have a genuine interest in developing a career in childcare.
