Remit are recruiting on behalf of D Philp Commercials who have an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in starting a career and gaining a recognised qualification in the Automotive Industry.

The apprentice program always apprentices to work fulltime and have the opportunity to earn while they learn and put theory into practice within the Automotive Industry environment.

Attending college typically for the first 3 years and the last year based within the workshop. A qualified vehicle paint technician applies paint and finishes to a vehicle which has recently been repaired by the vehicle body technician. You will learn how to recognise the various materials used on vehicles and the prep that is needed to be done before applying the paints and finishes. It is a skilled job and you will be taught how to estimate costs accurately as well as given a thorough briefing in health and safety.


TYPICAL DAY

• Preparing vehicles to be painted after the damage has occurred or panels have been replaced, this can include repairing minor scratches to match the rest of the vehicle
• Ensuring all parts are stripped from the vehicle in order for it to be painted.
• Sanding down relevant areas and adjoining areas for blending
• Masking out areas that will need to be treated
• Etching and priming the area to be treated
• Selecting, mixing and matching colour

• The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions

What qualification or qualities are required?

• Nationals at level 4 or above in English and Math’s
• It is also preferred if you have a Craft Subject and physics/science these are advantageous but not mandatory.
• A desire to work in the Automotive Industry
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Confidence in problem solving

Initial Assessments and interviews will be carried by Remit Ltd.
