The Advanced Forming Research Centre, based in Inchinnan, Renfrewshire is seeking to appoint a Modern Apprentice to work with the Business Development Process Managers, providing centralised, administrative support to Business Development Team in this busy research centre.

Following documented procedures you will undertake a broad range of activities to assist the Business Development Process Managers in their day to day activity, gradually taking over responsibility for elements of data-gathering and reporting.

You will be motivated, enthusiastic with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. You should be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and above average IT skills, including a knowledge of Microsoft office suite of packages.

What will I learn?

You will develop a wide range of office and administration skills utilising a variety of the packages within MS office. You will work with the business development team to collate and analyse data, over time working on producing recommendations and reports.

You will gain a wide range of experience in this varied and developing role. As the Centre expands the level and content of work will continuously grow providing the successful candidate with a valuable experience

What qualification or qualities are required?

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement

We are looking for the successful applicant to have:

Minimum of 4 Nat 5’s at A, B and C (or equivalent) which must include English, Mathematics and either Admin or Computing subject, a Higher Grade qualification or ECDL would be desirable.

You will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook.

We require excellent numeracy and communications skills both, verbal and written.

You will also be well organised and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a variety of people.

You must have attention to detail, ability to work accurately and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.

Above all we are looking for someone who has a pleasant and helpful manner, with a can do attitude and a willingness to learn new skills
