Job overview

As part of a team, you will work with colleagues in the education and lifelong learning service to do business administration and systems support. You will also have the opportunity to support data analysis, improve digital processes and assist the Skills for Work Team.

As part of our Modern Apprenticeship programme we will help you develop all the skills, knowledge and confidence you need and you will get full induction, training and support from the council and our training partners to take you through the nationally recognised qualification you will complete as part of the programme.

What will I learn?

General clerical/administrative duties:

Carry out a range of routine procedures and instructions using initiative to make routine decisions for services including school transport and school meals.
Interpret information and/or situations and solve generally similar problems which arise.
Process confidential, personal and sensitive information.
Telephone operation.
Routine filing and collation of information relating to all school operations.
Input data including word processing and/or the use of a range of other software packages.
Seek and provide information from and to work colleagues and/or members of the public.
Provide administrative support for information governance processes and the Angus Schools for the Future Programme.

Data analysis and digital processes:

Assist with the preparation of data reports and infographics for education services.
Assist with the preparation of school census data and school roll forecasts.
Assist with the improvement of digital processes for Education.

Work with the Skills for Work Co-ordinator to:

• Liaise by telephone, email or face-to-face with different employers in Angus regarding work placements.
• Database management including, creation, maintenance and input of data.
• Carry to a range of route procedures including processing paperwork, storing, and retrieval, scanning and filing as required.
• Communicate with employers and schools to arrange visits and schedule them with the Skills for Work Co-ordinator.
• Assist and work with the Communications Team to develop new ways of communication for the Angus Works/Mini Angus Works programme/other and producing draft materials and ideas – including branding, videos etc.
Attend developing young workforce meetings, events, and related work placement activities. Assist with the organisation of careers related fares including booking venues, arranging refreshments, creating and processing related paperwork, event logistics, registration etc.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Three National 4 Grades, including Mathematics and English or NC Level 4/SVQ Level 1 in Administration or other relevant subject, or equivalent qualification; or relevant office experience
Ability to undertake SVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration and any other relevant training as part of the Modern Apprenticeship programme
Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
