The purpose of the Communications and Marketing Graduate Apprenticeship in Business Management role is to help develop and deliver communications and marketing activity to meet the ambitions and goals of Skills Development Scotland (SDS) across projects, campaigns and audiences.

The degree achieved will be in Business Management working in a communications and marketing role.

The successful candidate will gain experience in a wide range of communications and marketing disciplines, including campaign planning and measurement, copyrighting, social media, email marketing, events, press and public relations, advertising, print, design and employee engagement.

They will be mentored and supported to work within the Apprenticeship Communications and Marketing team of seven people.

The Apprenticeships Communications and Marketing team plans, implements and measures national campaigns and projects to promote Scottish Apprenticeships.

What will I learn?

The Graduate Apprentice will undertake formal learning to complete BA (Hons) Business Management. A work-based development programme will be created to allow progression over the 4 years. The GA will be mentored and supported and work under the direction of a Lead Mentor for the period of their fixed term apprenticeship. You’ll have the chance to work on high profile media and marketing campaigns from start to finish – helping shape plans and bringing them to life.

You will work as part of an experienced team, with expertise across a range of communications and marketing channels, including media, events, employee engagement, digital marketing, social media, advertising, design, film… and more!

What qualification or qualities are required?

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement

To enter this programme at the start of Year 1 you must have either:
a minimum of two SQA Highers at Grade B (or equivalent) and two SQA Highers at Grade C (or equivalent) including Grade C in Maths and English, or a Modern Apprenticeship at SVQ level 3, or a Foundation Apprenticeship plus two SQA Highers at Grade C (or equivalent)

Entry to Year 2 may be possible if you have either:

three SQA Advanced Highers (or equivalent) or
an appropriate HNC (or equivalent) or
have successfully achieved 120 SCQF credits at SCQF level 7 (or equivalent).

In addition, you’ll have the following skills and attributes:
Knowledge or interest in Communications and Marketing
Interest in Digital and/or Social Media
Enthusiasm and curiosity
Creative with desire to bring ideas to life
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to maintain focus whilst managing routine tasks
Well organised, with attention to detail
A commitment to study and obtaining degree qualification
Willingness to learn, develop and contribute to team workload
