The Quality Assurance and Improvement Graduate Apprentice role sits within the Quality Assurance and Improvement team (QA&I) contributing to the strategic objective of providing assurance to customers, stakeholders and partners on the quality of SDS products and services.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Improvement Manager the Graduate Apprentice will support the organisation to achieve Business Excellence through the deployment of effective quality assurance practices. This includes planning and undertaking self-evaluation, preparing for external review of services and use of continuous improvement approaches

The overarching purpose of the role is to encourage and support teams to develop workplans, monitor performance against agreed targets and improve their systems, processes and services in response to changes in the business context, external review/audit findings, customer, partner and staff feedback and business results.

What will I learn?

As the Graduate Apprentice moves through the degree course and builds their skills, knowledge and expertise, they will be offered the chance to progress in their role and make a significant contribution. The role and the associated responsibilities will therefore progress and evolve throughout the 4-year duration of the Graduate Apprenticeship.

The Graduate Apprentice will undertake formal learning to complete BA(Hons) Business Management. A work-based development programme will be created to allow progression over the 4 years. The GA will be mentored and supported and work under the direction of a Lead Mentor for the period of their fixed term apprenticeship.

What qualification or qualities are required?

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement

To enter this programme at the start of Year 1 you must have either:
a minimum of two SQA Highers at Grade B (or equivalent) and two SQA Highers at Grade C (or equivalent) including Grade C in Maths and English, or
a Modern Apprenticeship at SVQ level 3, or
a Foundation Apprenticeship plus two SQA Highers at Grade C (or equivalent)

Entry to Year 2 may be possible if you have either:
three SQA Advanced Highers (or equivalent) or
an appropriate HNC (or equivalent) or
have successfully achieved 120 SCQF credits at SCQF level 7 (or equivalent).

In addition, you’ll have the following skills and attributes:
Digital Literacy
Ability to absorb and process information and data as required
Willingness to learn, develop and contribute to team workload
An interest in Business is desirable
