Job overview

To assist Services for Young People to provide a comprehensive service across the Council.

To support the delivery and facilitation of Youth Work as part of a local team consistent with the principles and policy statements of the Council and Education and Children's Services.

What will I learn?

Support the delivery of delegated services as agreed with line manager and detailed in personal job targets.
Support the undertaking of face to face work with identified individuals or groups.
Engage with and support young people in a variety of settings.
Support the delivery of services as agreed in personal job targets.
Assist in collecting data for community profiles and analysis of learning needs of groups and individuals.
Liaise with other agencies within the area and with voluntary and statutory providers as required.
Support the promotion of REACH through fieldwork practice
Adhere to local and divisional office procedures.
Submit regular returns in respect of hours of work, overtime, annual leave and sickness absence.
Prepare and submit statistical returns and other information as required.
Follow copyright regulations when preparing and reproducing learning materials.
Ensure all administrative and financial procedures are adhered in line with Guidance.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of using Microsoft office software.
Previous work experience would be an advantage.
Have good numeracy skills.
Have an understanding of the purpose of Perth and Kinross Council.
Willing to deal with a variety of customers, both face-to-face and over the telephone in a manner which meets the Council's Customer Care Standards.
Health & Safety
Able to cope with the demands of the job and attend on a regular basis.
Willing to undertake Health & Safety training relevant to the post.
Treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect.
Be able to follow and comply with procedures when dealing with sensitive and confidential information in order to comply with the Data Protection Act.
Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to be involved in team tasks and adapt to ongoing changes.
Willing to commit to meeting agreed timescales and targets in relation to the Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Work Modern Apprenticeship.
Willing to accept feedback and use this to improve performance.
Ability to produce high standard of work.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Able to work effectively as part of a team.
Be able to follow instructions given by members of staff.
Have the ability to know when to ask for assistance/guidance.
Be prepared to undertake the Modern Apprenticeship and any other relevant training deemed necessary to meet the requirements of Perth and Kinross Council.
