The role of an Information & Technology (IM&T) Developer Apprentice involves assisting in the delivery of IT support to BAE Systems Maritime Naval Ships by helping to develop its IT systems. This can include providing a technical support service, or delivering and maintaining relevant people, process or system documentation, as in the Governance team. You will be required to work to deadlines and standards on a daily basis.
You will develop a number of skills, both technical and non-technical. Technical skills that are to be developed will include application development, application testing, and data interrogation. Non-technical skills you will develop include stakeholder management, project management and reporting, and Service Management skills. Teamwork is a skill essential to this role as you will be required to work with many different people in many different roles. You must also be self-confident and able to take the initiative in order to solve the kinds of problems that arise within the Information Management & Technology function. This role could also include attending college on a regular basis in order to support relating further educational framework qualification and technical subject matter knowledge required to become professional Developers role.
You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement
3 Highers at grade C or above which should include English, Maths and an IT related qualification and 5 National 5's (or equivalent) to include English, Maths and an IT related qualification.
Experience of an IT development related project or assignment that you have successfully played an active part in.
