Job overview

As a Modern Apprentice, you will be working within the Health & Safety team at Scottish Borders Council . You will carry out a range of Health & Safety activities across the Scottish Borders.

What will I learn?

You will undertake a formal modern apprenticeship in Occupational Health & Safety and will gain a SVQ Level 3 qualification on successful completion. You will combine on-the-job learning with a programme of training and development. You will be predominantly based at Council HQ/Home, but you will be expected to travel regularly to various locations in the Borders.

What qualification or qualities are required?

4 standard Grades at bands 1-3 (including English and Maths) or 4 National 5’s A-C (including English and Maths) or SVQ Level 2 in Business & Administration, or equivalent.
Alternatively hold 4 standard grades (grade 3 or above) and possess, or currently be studying towards, a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.*
