As an Electronic Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice, you’ll attain base engineering skills in the form of an SVQ Levels 2 & 3 and HNC/D.
Over a period of 4 years, this will be a mix of you attending college and working in an electronic manufacturing environment gaining hands on experience. Skills you’ll develop include:
• You will work in several departments within our Electrical Mechanical Assembly (EMA) division to develop your practical skills to support, enhance and develop your Apprenticeship.
• You will learn all aspects of electronic and mechanical assembly from understanding the process requirements including SMT assembly, manual assembly, mechanical engineering through to electrical test and customer approval.
• Study and learn engineering data and documentation and how we use this.
• Programming production equipment using CAD / CAM and ERP software.
• Soldering
• Establish, select, implement, and maintain efficient manufacturing processes controls and procedures.
• Focus on quality and internal efficiency efforts to improve cycle times and reduce defects.
• How to coordinate with Colleagues to determine product specifications and design changes.
• Maintain time and attendance to company standards.
• Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures college and government legislation.
Year 1 – Full-time attendance at college SVQ PEO Level 2 (6 Months, 5 days per week. Then 4 days’ workplace until 2nd Year) Year 2 four days in the workplace and One day at college completing an HNC/HND. Years 3 through 4 – Full time at Zot Engineering workplace based, and time spent on-the-job learning, developing knowledge and skills.
You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement
4 Standard Grades (1-3) / National 5 (A-C) or equivalent – mandatory Mathematics and English. Plus, another 2 subjects preferably Physics or a technological subject (Tech Studies, Craft and Design, Graphic Communication, Computing).
