Apprenticeship Approval Group

From October 2019, the process of approving apprenticeships will move from the Modern Apprenticeship Group towards the new Apprenticeship Approval Group (AAG).

AAG will assess and approve new and existing Scottish Apprenticeships, including Foundation and Graduate frameworks.

Their aim is to make sure all apprenticeships meet the needs of employers and provide the highest quality of learning for individuals. The group will also bring a common and consistent approach to the frameworks. This will make them clear for stakeholders, while maintaining or improving their quality.

Members of the group come from different organisations, such as:

  • Employer (Chair)
  • Employer member (s)
  • Scottish Government
  • Skills Development Scotland
  • Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA)
  • Scottish Training Federation
  • Scottish Union Learning (SUL)
  • Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC)
  • Federation for Industry Sector Skills & Standards (FISSS)
  • Quality Assurance Agency for Scotland
  • Education Scotland
  • Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)
  • AAG sub Group representative (Non-member

The group will work and provide recommendations to the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board Standards and Frameworks group.

By the 31 March 2020, AAG will approve all frameworks and standards as the Modern Apprenticeship Group is dissolved.
