What will I learn?

A GA is about much more than just getting a degree. As it’s work-based, you will also gain a whole range of useful experience and skills such as:

  • Preparing, analysing and interpreting complex financial information for customers or clients such as sole traders and limited companies
  • Using financial models like management accounting, budgeting, risk analysis and taxation
  • Understanding digital technology to analyse and report data
  • The ability to manage people through understanding management theories, employment contracts and employment relationships
  • Understanding and applying professional practice around the UK tax system, International Audit Standards, corporate law and trust and trustees
  • How to make sustainable business decisions and provide specialist information through evaluating financial and non-financial data

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for Graduate Apprenticeships vary by course and institution. Each vacancy advert has information on what qualifications you need to start the GA. Alternatively, you can contact the university or college directly for guidance on entry requirements.

Duration

A GA at SCQF level 10 (honours degree level) will take up to four years to complete. A GA at SCQF level 8 or 9 (high apprenticeship) and SCQF level 11 (professional body qualification) will take up to two years to complete.

Some individuals may complete the GA in a shorter period of time because the format means they can attend university or college outwith traditional term times.
