Accounting and finance are crucial to businesses and the public sector. With a Graduate Apprenticeship in Accounting, you'll learn all aspects of managing accounts and finance.

We’ve worked with employers, college and universities to create this qualification. So you’ll gain the skills and knowledge expected from a graduate - and earn yourself a degree.

What's the qualification?

You'll gain a Graduate Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 10/11. By the end of it you'll achieve:

  • a Graduate Apprenticeship BA (Hons) in Accounting SCQF Level 10
  • a professional body qualification at SCQF Level 11

What will I learn?

A Graduate Apprenticeship is about much more than getting a degree. As it’s work-based, you'll also gain a range of useful experience and skills, such as:

  • analysing complex financial information for clients
  • using financial models such as management accounting, budgeting and risk analysis
  • understanding digital technology to analyse and report data
  • managing people
  • making sustainable business decisions
  • providing specialist information

Course content

The key content areas which make up the Accounting Graduate Apprenticeship are:

  • core and meta-skills
  • general skills for working in a business environment
  • specific knowledge for working in an accounting environment

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for Graduate Apprenticeships vary by course and institution.

Each vacancy advert tells you what qualifications you need to start the apprenticeship. Or you can contact the university or college for guidance on entry requirements.

Duration

A Graduate Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 10 (honours degree level) will take up to 4 years to complete.

Or it'll take up to 2 years at:

  • SCQF Level 8 or 9 (high apprenticeship) or
  • SCQF Level 11 (professional body qualification)

You might complete the apprenticeship in a shorter time. That's because the format means you can attend university or college outwith term times.
