What's the qualification?

You will receive a Modern Apprenticeship qualification in Skills for Craft Businesses at SCQF level 7. This Modern Apprenticeship includes: 

  • Specialised vocational units of an SVQ combined with transferable core skills units 
  • Practical workplace experience developing technical knowledge of your craft

What will I learn?

Depending on the units that you choose, you will learn how to:  

  • Source high-quality materials and tools 
  • Develop brand-new craft design ideas 
  • Create professional-quality craft items  
  • Implement a business plan to promote your craft services 
  • Protect your work through an understanding of intellectual property  

You will also develop the following core skills:

These core skills will assist you across a broad range of industries including art and design, business, retail, marketing and many other related sectors. 


Where could it take me?

There are lots of options for your career once you complete this Modern Apprenticeship. Take on additional education or go straight into a job with everything you have learnt so far. 

Further education: Continue to develop and refine your craft skills with further qualifications. For example, you could begin a higher-level apprenticeship in a subject such as Jewellery Manufacturing CAD/CAM or Silverware Manufacturing. You can also begin further SVQ qualifications in your chosen craft specialism.  

Straight to work: After completing the apprenticeship, you could begin a career in jobs such as:

Entry requirements

There are no formal requirements to secure a place on this apprenticeship. However, it is advised you undertake related work experience. This will show your suitability for the apprenticeship to potential employers. 

Duration

This Modern Apprenticeship will take 15 months to complete on average.
