What's the qualification?

You will gain a Modern Apprenticeship qualification at SCQF level 6 in Upstream Oil and Gas Production. This course consists of: 

  • Specialised vocational units for the oil and gas industry alongside transferable core skills training 
  • Enhancement modules providing additional industry-specific qualifications 
  • Real-world industry experience in a range of work experience

What will I learn?

During your apprenticeship, you could learn how to:   

  • Perform essential operations in the gas and oil production journeys 
  • Load oil and gas storage tanks for transportation 
  • Carry out system maintenance to ensure safety and reliability 
  • Operate crucial engineering systems such as hydraulics and ventilation

There are a variety of options available to you as a Modern Apprentice in Upstream Oil and Gas Production. You can gain further knowledge in a more targeted discipline or begin full-time employment in the industry upon completion of the course. 

Further education: Continue to develop your skills with additional vocational studies. For example, you can specialise further with a more advanced SVQ such as a higher-level SVQ in Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons.

Entry requirements

While there are no set entry requirements for this apprenticeship, it can be helpful for candidates to have National 5 qualifications in key subjects such as English, Mathematics and Physics. 

Duration

This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 3 years and 6 months and 3 years and 9 months to complete.
