Apprentice Ambassador of the Year

The Apprentice Ambassador of the Year category celebrates former apprentices who inspire other young people to consider apprenticeships as a potential career path.

Entries to this category are only open to former Modern Apprentices, funded by Skills Development Scotland, who have made exceptional achievements since their completion and continue to champion the Apprenticeship programme.

The Apprentice Ambassador of the Year category is only open to individuals who have completed their apprenticeship and were certificated before 1 October 2016. This means you can't enter an individual into both the Apprentice of the Year, and Apprentice Ambassador of the Year categories.

Submitting a nomination

You should submit your nomination online. Entries must be in by noon on 28 June.

This entry should be completed by an employer or training provider who has identified someone they would like to nominate.

On the form, you'll need to answer the following questions.

Question 1

Explain how your nominee has become an integral part of the business since the completion of their own apprenticeship.

You may wish to consider including:

  • Details on the levels of progression since completing their apprenticeship (include CPD or examples of further development)
  • Highlighting key responsibilities within their role

Judges will score this question based on criteria around benefits to the business, and demonstration that the nominee is a key part of the business.

Question 2

Explain how your nominee has championed apprenticeships since completing their own apprenticeship.

Judges will be looking for strong advocates of the apprenticeship programme, who can showcase how they proactively promote apprenticeships as an excellent career route. You might like to include these points to help judges score this answer:

  • Demonstrate how the apprenticeship has contributed to your nominee's personal progression
  • Outline any personal achievements since your nominee has completed their apprenticeship
  • Detail and evidence how your nominee is an exemplary advocate and proactive ambassador for apprenticeships

Judges will consider this question with criteria of best practice in mind. They will be looking for demonstration that the nominee clearly displays and supports the ethos of apprenticeships.
