This Modern Apprenticeship is offered at three levels. It can help you train new employees, as well as upskill existing staff and those already in a managerial role. The apprenticeship covers areas such as leadership, communication and project management, coaching and change management. It provides the skills needed for managerial roles of all levels – from first line and middle managers, to senior managers.

Qualifications

SCQF level 7

Your employee will study for a qualification in Management at SCQF level 7.

Entry requirements

There are no set entry requirements for this Modern Apprenticeship.

Progression and development

After completing this Modern Apprenticeship, employees will have the skills and knowledge they need for roles including:

  • Senior supervisor
  • Section head
  • Developer
  • Manager

They could also progress to further training, including the Modern Apprenticeship in Management at SCQF level 9. Alternatively, they can progress to courses in further or higher education, or work towards professional body qualifications such as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) or Chartered Institute of Management.

SCQF level 9

Your employee will study for a qualification in Management at SCQF level 9.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have completed the Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 9, or have equivalent qualifications or experience.

Progression and development

After completing this Modern Apprenticeship, your employees will have the skills and experience they need for roles including:

  • Departmental head
  • Senior developer
  • Manager

They could also progress to further training, including the Modern Apprenticeship in Management at SCQF level 11. Alternatively, they can progress to courses in further or higher education, or work towards professional body qualifications such as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) or Chartered Institute of Management.

SCQF level 11

Your employee will study for a qualification in Management at SCQF level 11.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have completed the Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 11, or have equivalent qualifications or experience.

Progression and development

After completing this Modern Apprenticeship, employees will have the skills and experience they need for roles including:

  • Director
  • General manager
  • Executive manager

They could also progress to courses in further or higher education, or work towards professional body qualifications such as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) or Chartered Institute of Management.

How much will it cost?

Training

We will contribute towards the training costs, paying the learning provider directly in incremental payments throughout the course of the apprenticeship.

Use the contribution tables to work out the funding level for this framework:

Modern Apprenticeship Contribution Table (16-24 age group)
Modern Apprenticeship Contribution Table (25+ age group)

An enhanced funding contribution is paid for employees who are aged 16 – 19. For those who are disabled and care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29.

Salary

Like any other employee of your business, you’ll pay the Modern Apprentice's wages. This is not set by SDS, but we do encourage all employees to pay the living wage. Remember, you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.

Time to complete

It will take between 12-24 months to complete.
