Contract activation

In April, contracts for new and existing learning providers are activated. From this point on, your main point of contact at Skills Development Scotland will be your Skills Investment Adviser.

They'll guide you through key documents, staff roles and responsibilities and our policy and processes.

Your checklist

During this time:

  • Your Skills Investment Adviser will guide you through key documents, staff roles and responsibilities and SDS policy and processes

  • If you need to know more about the equality profile of your local authority area have a look at our equalities summaries.

  • To support you, we've provided a range of resources in our marketing toolkit. This includes challenge postcards which help you address stereotypes with potential MA employers, and assets to help you promote MAs to a diverse range of candidates.

Read our inclusive recruitment guide for support on attracting diverse talent.

You can also check the ASN guides on our corporate website for information on what support is available in your area.

  • Work with your employers to advertise any Modern Apprenticeship vacancies on

  • Work your way through the Funding Information and Processing System (FIPS) training videos and how to guides. These will show you how to access the system, enter a start and claim progress and achievement.

  • Make sure your employers – and your own staff – are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the MA programme conditions. For example, you could run an induction process or produce an information pack.
