Your qualification includes:
Aquaculture Management at SCQF Level 9
As part of your work, you’ll learn how to:
carry out first-aid training on a boat
survive at sea
check the health of fish
farm fish successfully
carry out best food practices
You’ll also develop the following core skills:
problem-solving
working with others
time management
communication
These transferable skills are useful for different jobs, such as working on a ship and farming.
This Technical Apprenticeship provides a range of options. Continue your education by studying for a related degree in aquaculture or start your career.
Further education: Go on to study for a BA in aquaculture management or farming. The knowledge you’ve gained will support your university application.
Straight to work: Use your qualifications to get a job in aquaculture, such as:
farm manager
fish husbandry
deckhand
shrimp farm technician
mussel farm technician
hatchery manager
Entry requirements
You’ll need to have the following qualifications:
a qualification in Aquaculture at SCQF Level 7
at least 2 years of experience in the aquaculture industry
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Technical Apprenticeship will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
