In Scotland, there’s a growing demand for people with specialist maintenance skills. This apprenticeship can give you experience for a variety of jobs such as becoming an engineering technician, a mechanical fitter or body cladding technician.
You’ll gain a qualification in Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance at SCQF level 6.

You'll study either:
Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Mechanical-Electrical) at SCQF Level 6
Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Electrical) at SCQF Level 6
Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Mechanical) at SCQF Level 6
Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Body Cladding) at SCQF Level 6
As part of your work, you’ll learn how to:
repair a bus or coach
fit different vehicle parts
maintain strong customer relationships
develop technical knowledge of bus parts
carry out best safety practices
This apprenticeship will help you develop core skills such as:
communication
team work
problem-solving
time management
These transferable skills can be used in different roles, such as coach fitter and supervisor.
This Modern Apprenticeship provides a range of options. You could continue your studies by progressing to an engineering degree or go into full-time work.
Further education: Carry on studying with a supervisor or management MA. Your experience will support your university application.
