What's Court and Tribunal Operations like?
Courts and tribunals are a central part of the Scottish Justice system. They provide administrative support to Scottish Courts and Tribunals and to the judiciary of those courts, including:
the High Court of Justiciary
Court of Session
Sheriff Courts
Justice of the Peace Courts
the Office of the Public Guardian and Accountant of Court
During this apprenticeship you'll gain a wide range of technical and administrative skills within courts, tribunals and supporting services.
You will gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5 or Level 6.

Your qualification includes:
SVQ in Court and Tribunal Operations at SCQF Level 5
Court and Prosecution Administration at SCQF Level 5
a range of workplace core skills
SVQ in Court and Tribunal Operations at SCQF Level 6
a range of workplace core skills
As part of this apprenticeship, you'll achieve 5 different Workplace Core Skills at SCQF Level 5.
You'll also complete at least one of these customised awards:
Court Operations roles: Summary Criminal, Ordinary Civil, Solemn Criminal, Summary Cause (including small claims) or Commissary
Tribunal Operations roles: Promote Continuous Improvement
There are a range of options to peruse upon completion of this apprenticeship.
Further study: Completion could lead to a suitable degree course, subject to college/ university approval. You will also have the opportunity to pursue qualifications in a cross-sector areas such as Management, at SCQF Level 7.
Straight to work: Use your qualifications and find a job in the sector. Examples of eligible job roles include Civil Executive Officer, Crime Executive officer, Operational Support Manager and Business Support Manager.
Entry requirements
There are no set entry requirements for this apprenticeship. But it's great to have a general interest in the court and tribunal systems.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
