What's Driving Goods Vehicles like?
Would you like to drive for a living, and help move freight around the country or further? This apprenticeship will allow you to work and learn in the road haulage sector, getting experience of driving a range of goods vehicles.
You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6, which includes:
Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles at SCQF Level 6
You’ll be expected to achieve a range of learning outcomes by the end of your apprenticeship. These will support your development whilst working within the road haulage sector.
You'll also acquire a licence in one of the following goods vehicles categories. This is a mandatory requirement of the apprenticeship:
C1LGV
CRigid
CEArticulated
When you successfully complete this apprenticeship, you'll have gained competence-based and professional qualifications. These open the door to lots of opportunities for progression in work and future learning.
Career advancement
You might move into a role that aligns to your qualification, for example progressing from van driving to articulated lorry driving. You might also move into roles such as:
HGV driving Instructor
dangerous goods safety advisor
transport manager

There are no formal entry requirements for this apprenticeship, but it's recommended that you have a valid car licence.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
