Scotland’s hospitality industry has a range of jobs on offer. Work as an event coordinator and arrange festivals. Develop new customer care strategies as a hospitality manager. Create a memorable dining experience as a restaurant manager. Whatever your interests, the apprenticeship will give you the necessary customer service skills to succeed in hospitality management.

Hospitality Management Skills at SCQF Level 8
As part of your work, you'll learn how to:
manage the performance of teams and individuals
contribute to the strategic goals of the organisation’s leadership team
comply with legislative requirements in hospitality
manage purchasing costs in hospitality
manage payroll costs for your team
manage rotas for your hospitality team
obtain, analyse and implement customer feedback
recruit and select hospitality staff
devise and implement training and development plans for your hospitality team
manage the use of the organisation’s systems to meet operational needs
You will develop the following core skills:
teamwork
numeracy
problem-solving
communication
time-management
These transferrable skills are useful for working in other jobs such as event management and customer support.
This Technical Apprenticeship gives you a variety of options. Carry on your studies with a hospitality degree or graduate into full-time work.
Further education: Continue to improve your hospitality knowledge with a bachelor’s degree in PR or event management. Your experience will support your university application.
Straight to work: Make the most of your qualifications and find a job in the hospitality industry. After completing the apprenticeship, you could move onto jobs such as:
head chef
hotel manager
event manager
event coordinator
executive chef
hospitality manager
hospitality supervisor
meetings and events sales manager
Entry requirements
There are no set requirements for the apprenticeship. However, it is good to have a previous qualification such as an SCQF Level 5 in hospitality and an interest in developing your customer service skills.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Technical Apprenticeship will take 12 to 24 months to complete.
