What's Hospitality Team Member like?
Are you keen to build a career in Scotland's hospitality industry? Study for a Hospitality Team Member apprenticeship and you'll spend time working in a front of house or back of house position.
There are lots of exciting areas you can get into. You could specialise in food and beverage, accommodation and lodging or conferences and events. Whether you want to become the next top barista, a brilliant bartender, or something else – there's a job for everyone in Scotland's hospitality sector.
You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5.

Your qualification includes:
Diploma for Hospitality Team Member at SCQF Level 5
During your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:
communicate well with others
apply techniques that are relevant to your role so you can carry out your tasks
work well as part of a team or on your own
adapt your style to suit different customers' needs
adhere to your organisation's purpose and values
specialise in your chosen area of hospitality
take an enthusiastic and positive approach to customer service
work within legal and regulatory requirements
You'll develop the following core skills:
communication
numeracy
information and communication technology
problem solving
working with others
Successful apprentices may progress to:
a higher-level role in the same (or related) career path
higher-level apprenticeships in the same (or related) disciplines. These could be Hospitality (Supervision and Leadership) at SCQF Level 7 or Hospitality Management Skills Technical Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 8
further study at college or university
Entry requirements
There are no set entry requirements for this apprenticeship. However, it's helpful if you're interested in hospitality and perhaps have a role in mind that you want to work in. You should also:
have good communication skills
display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the hospitality sector
be able to adhere to a flexible working pattern
enjoy working as part of a team and interacting with others
be prepared to attend off-the-job training
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This apprenticeship is expected to take around 12 months to complete.
