The apprenticeship is ideal for anyone who wants to create positive change for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Learn how to meet social targets in a housing environment. Discover the latest construction support techniques and help to plan the creation of new homes. Learn how to develop strategies that can improve the wellbeing of local communities.
Scotland’s housing industry offers a range of rewarding jobs. Work as a housing administrator and make sure new properties meet energy efficiency requirements. Become a housing and wellbeing officer and help to provide shelter for the homeless. Work as a repairs officer and make properties safe to live in.
You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 or Level 7.

As part of your work, you'll learn how to:
Process documents relating to housing services
Undertake promotional activity within the housing sector
Respond to customer requests for repairs
Inspect the condition of a property
Organise the maintenance and repair of a property
Allocate accommodation to meet a customer’s needs
Provide housing advice and guidance
Manage empty properties
You will develop the following core skills:
Numeracy

Time management
Teamwork
Communication
These transferrable skills are useful for working in other roles like social care and construction.
This Modern Apprenticeship gives you a range of options. Carry on your studies with an apprenticeship at SCQF level 8 in housing or find a job in the industry.
Further education: Continue your studies by applying for a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certificate in resident and service user involvement or a CIH certificate in housing maintenance. This could lead to a qualification in a specialist subject such as a Masters in social work.
Straight to work: Use your qualifications to find a housing-related job. After completing the apprenticeship, you could move onto jobs like:

Housing and wellbeing officer
Assistant repairs officer
Housing inspector
Entry requirements
There are no set requirements for the apprenticeship. However, it is worth having an interest in the housing sector.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take 12 to 24 months to complete.
