What's Management like?
Do you have a knack for leadership? Would you like to be the director of your own company? A management apprenticeship can help you develop leadership skills and find an exciting job.
The apprenticeship is available at 3 different levels. It's ideal for business-focused people with a desire to progress. You'll:
learn how to bring about change in an office environment#
discover how to motivate colleagues and contribute to a positive working atmosphere
improve your understanding of management techniques such as goal-setting and task delegation
The apprenticeship opens up a variety of job options in Scotland’s management sector. Work in a digital marketing agency and support colleagues as an account manager. Supervise hospitality staff as a bar manager. Work as a general manager within a busy supermarket and help to improve customer service.
You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship in Management at SCQF Level 7, 9 or 11.

Your qualification includes one of the following:
Management Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 7
Management Technical Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 9
Management Professional Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 11
During your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:
lead and build a team
manage people’s performance at work
support individuals’ learning and development
manage conflict within a team
coach individuals
manage budgets
evaluate change
sell products and services
You will develop the following core skills:
numeracy
communication
teamwork
time management
problem-solving
These transferrable skills are useful for working in other roles such as life coaching and office management.
This Modern Apprenticeship gives you a variety of options. Continue your studies with a business-related degree or go on to full-time work.
Another apprenticeship: If you've studied this Management Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 7 or 9, you could move to the next level of apprenticeship. You could, instead, choose a different Modern Apprenticeship - or get a degree as a Graduate Apprentice.
Further education: Continue to improve your leadership skills by applying for a Bachelor’s degree in business development. Or you could apply for a professional body qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Straight to work: Use your qualifications to find a management role, such as:
account manager
bar manager
senior supervisor
general manager
executive manager
store supervisor
Entry requirements
There are no set requirements for this apprenticeship at SCQF Level 7.
To start at SCQF Level 9 or 11, it's good if you have completed the previous level or you have experience and skills that are equivalent.
It's useful at any level to have an interest in progression and team development.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take 12 to 24 months to complete.
