What's Providing Security Officer Services like?
In this apprenticeship, you’ll be involved in activities that involve keeping people and property safe. This provides an important component in the fight against crime, antisocial behaviour and terrorism. You’ll be involved in reflecting and responding to changes in regulations and technologies.
There are a range of options to pursue with this apprenticeship.

Your qualification includes:
SVQ in Providing Security Officer Services at SCQF Level 5
As part of your apprenticeship, you will achieve 5 different Work Place Core Skills at SCQF Level 4.
You will also complete 5 mandatory enhancement qualifications needed to achieve this framework.
There are a range of options to pursue with this apprenticeship.
Further Study: You could seek a range of team leader/ supervisory qualifications avaliable and although generic, could be contextualised for the security sector by the training provider.
A new standards-based apprenticeship is being developed in England to meet the needs of employees progressing from security officer posts. There is a possibility that a similar development could take place in Scotland to develop an apprenticeship framework at SCQF Level 6/7/8.
Straight to work: You will be able to move into different roles within your own company, or in other companies should the need arise. The more modules you attain in the SVQ, the wider the range of roles you could apply for. These could include working in any of the areas covered by the framework, moving into supervisory roles, moving into training and assessing roles.
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this apprenticeship but an interest in security would be beneficial.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take 12 and 24 months to complete.
