What's Social Services and Healthcare like?

Are you looking for a meaningful career that improves the lives of others? This apprenticeship provides opportunities to secure employment in one of Scotland’s most valuable job sectors, social services and healthcare. 

The sector covers community work, elderly and end-of-life care, addiction treatment, mental health support, home nursing and many other critical job roles. Give life-changing advice as a counsellor. Provide vital support as a palliative care nurse. Help patients regain their freedom as a healthcare assistant. 

 During the course, you’ll learn to meet the needs of a diverse range of patients and communities. You’ll receive valuable industry advice from experienced social services and healthcare professionals. However you’d like to support the communities you’ll work for, this apprenticeship will equip you with the knowledge and experience you need to thrive.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements to begin this apprenticeship. Employers will likely be looking for enthusiastic people with a keen interest in healthcare. Carrying out relevant work experience beforehand can help your application.   

How does it work?

You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider. 

How long will it take?

This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
