What's Supply Chain Management like?

Whether you’re a great negotiator or have a keen eye for detail, there’s a job for you in Scotland’s supply chain management sector. This apprenticeship can provide a range of job opportunities for candidates looking to begin or further their career in supply chain management. 

The sector covers logistics, trade, global markets, finance and a variety of other roles critical to the Scottish economy. Travel the world to find the highest-quality goods as a purchasing manager. Lead a team in multiple countries as a freight forwarder. Manage crucial shipping data as an import/export clerk.  

This apprenticeship can help you develop the necessary skills required for a career in supply chain management. During this course, you'll learn to coordinate large logistical operations. You’ll learn to communicate and negotiate in a professional business environment. Whatever job you’re looking for in supply chain management, this apprenticeship can give you  the key information and skills required for employment in this sector.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualification requirements for this apprenticeship. However, you can increase your chances of a successful application by showing relevant previous experience, such as a work placement in a supply chain business. A National Progression Award in Supply Chain Operations at SCQF Level 5 can be valuable but is not essential. 

How does it work?

You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider. 

How long will it take?

This Modern Apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months to complete.
