Your qualification includes:
Performing Engineering Operations at SCQF Level 6, plus one of the following:
Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons at SCQF Level 7
Process Engineering Maintenance (Instrument and Control) at SCQF Level 7
Process Engineering Maintenance (Electrical) at SCQF Level 7
Process Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) at SCQF Level 7
Engineering Maintenance (Electronic) at SCQF Level 6
During your apprenticeship, you could learn how to:
perform essential operations in the gas and oil production journeys
load oil and gas storage tanks for transportation
carry out system maintenance to ensure safety and reliability
operate crucial engineering systems such as hydraulics and ventilation
You will also develop a set of essential core skills:
numeracy
communication
teamwork
problem-solving
information technology (IT) skills
These skills are valuable across a wide range of Scottish job sectors and are transferable outwith the oil and gas industry. Examples include the broader engineering sector, manufacturing, construction and IT.
There's a variety of options available to you as a Modern Apprentice in Upstream Oil and Gas Production. You can gain further knowledge in a more targeted discipline or begin full-time employment in the industry.
Further education: Continue to develop your skills with additional vocational studies. For example, you can specialise further with a more advanced SVQ such as Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons.

Entry requirements
There are no set entry requirements for this apprenticeship. But it can be helpful if you have National 5 qualifications in key subjects such as English, maths and physics.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 3 years and 6 months and 3 years and 9 months to complete.
