Description
This apprenticeship will ensure that individuals have the right skills, knowledge and experience needed to produce high quality dishes and products consistently to specifications, often in large volumes across a wide variety of hospitality and catering operations. It also contributes towards professionalising production chefs by providing career progression to leadership and management roles.

Entry requirements
There are no specified entry requirements for entry on to the Apprenticeship programme. Employers set their own criteria.
Progression and development
Following competition of the Senior Production Chef apprenticeship candidates can progress into a HNC programme. Candidates can progress on to the Hospitality Supervision and Leadership at SCQF Level 7 or a generic leadership and management qualification or framework, and then on to the Hospitality Management Skills Technical Apprenticeship to further their development.
How does it work?
Apprentices will learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. They’ll also study with a college or other learning provider.
Cost and funding
We contribute towards training costs
We do this by paying the learning provider throughout the apprenticeship.

An enhanced funding contribution is paid for employees aged 16 to 19. For those who are disabled and care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29.

Who pays the apprentice?
Like any other employee of your business, you’ll pay the Modern Apprentice's wages. This is not set by SDS, but we encourage all employers to pay the Living Wage. Remember, you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.
How long will it take?
It will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
