Description
This Graduate Apprenticeship will help your employees learn more about the growing engineering industry – and earn a degree while they do it!
Each apprentice will study design methodologies, learn about project management and develop their creative thinking.
An Engineering: Design and Manufacture Graduate Apprenticeship supports several key areas, including:
engineering design and manufacturing principles
engineering business and management
project and delivery management
personal and interpersonal skills
We've worked with employers, colleges and universities to create this degree-level qualification. Your employees will gain the skills, knowledge and understanding that the industry is looking for.
You can use this Graduate Apprenticeship to recruit new employees or upskill and reskill existing members of staff.

How does it work?
Apprentices will learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. They’ll also study at university around one day per week. At the end, they’ll have achieved an Honours degree.
Cost and funding
As Graduate Apprentices are your employees, you'll pay their salary. This is not set by SDS but we encourage all employers to pay the Living Wage.
Graduate Apprentice learning costs are now funded by the Scottish Funding Council and Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). Funding covers the full duration of the programme. Graduate Apprentices will apply directly to SAAS for the funding.

How long will it take?
This is a Graduate Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 10. It's the same level as an Honours degree and will take four years to complete.
Some people might complete the apprenticeship over a shorter time. That's because they may have prior learning or experience that can be taken into consideration. This means they won't have to study parts of the Graduate Apprenticeship they've already learned about.
