What's Construction Professional like?

The construction industry is a fast moving and diverse industry with my occupational routes. The Construction Industry Training Board has identified the sector as having four distinct areas:

  • Construction Building

  • Construction Technical and Professional

The aim of this Professional Apprenticeship is to develop talent in a range of construction occupations in order to provide the industry with a well-trained productive workforce.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this framework. Achievement of academic qualifications such as National 4s, National 5s and Highers is one way of assessing the suitability of applicants.

However, each candidate will be reviewed on their own merit and employers should also be aware of newer vocational qualifications or vocational activity undertaken out with an academic institution, such as volunteering activity.

How does it work?

You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.

How long will it take?

This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
