This Modern Apprenticeship provides a structured approach to training and developing pharmacy technicians.
It's suitable for employees with or without experience in the industry. It helps apprentices understand the needs of pharmacy organisations, their customers and the sector.

Entry requirements
Candidates should have completed the Modern Apprenticeship in Pharmacy Services at SCQF Level 6 or have equivalent qualifications or experience.
Progression and development
After completing this Modern Apprenticeship, your employees will have the skills and experience they need for a further pharmacy technician role.
They could consider becoming a pharmacist, by studying for a Pharmacy degree. They could also progress to management, by studying an HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management, for example.
How does it work?
Apprentices will learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. They’ll also study with a college or other learning provider.
Cost and funding
We contribute towards training costs
We do this by paying the learning provider throughout the apprenticeship.

An enhanced funding contribution is paid for employees aged 16 to 19. For those who are disabled and care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29.

Who pays the apprentice?
Like any other employee of your business, you’ll pay the Modern Apprentice's wages. This is not set by SDS, but we encourage all employers to pay the Living Wage. Remember, you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.
How long will it take?
This Modern Technical Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 8 will take between 24 and 36 months to complete.
