What's Veterinary Nursing like?

This Modern Apprenticeship supports you to work in a veterinary environment, such as a surgery, with colleagues who deliver a wide range of care and treatment.

The Veterinary Nursing sector is an important part of the Animal Welfare industry. You'd work on the treatment of small animals, equine and agricultural animals.

Registered veterinary nurses work alongside veterinary surgeons to provide a high standard of care for animals. This apprenticeship contains flexible learning options and training to aid progression within the sector.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this framework. It can be useful, though, to have relevant Standard Grades, National 4s or 5s or Highers in relevant subjects such as biology, chemistry or English.

How does it work?

You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider. 

How long will it take?

This Modern Apprenticeship will take 12 to 24 months to complete.
