That could be managing people, creating strategy, making sales, organising projects or understanding customers. It’s the core tasks that make businesses work.

A Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) in Business Skills could get your business career off to a flying start.

The Foundation Apprenticeship

An FA Business Skills helps you discover what a career in business would be like, and if it’s right for you – while you're still at school. You’ll try different business administration roles, shadow experienced staff, or do a special project. You’ll build the practical skills and experience you need to do the job well. 

What qualifications will I gain?

You’ll be assessed throughout your FA Business Skills. At the end, you’ll achieve a Foundation Apprenticeship (Group Award) in Business Services at SCQF Level 6, which includes:

  • Four units from the SVQ3 in Business and Administration (SCQF Level 6)
  • A unit in Contemporary Business Issues (SCQF Level6)
  • A National Progression Award in Business with Information Technology (SCQF level 6)
  • A work Placement Unit (SCQF Level6).

Where could it take me?

With a FA Business Skills, you could:

  • Gain accelerated entry onto the Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administratration at SCQF Level 6
  • Continue your studies at college or university
  • Go straight into a job in a business services sector.


Where an FA in Business Skills could take you.
