What is a learning provider?
Learning providers can be educational institutions such as colleges, universities and schools. They can also be businesses, councils or other organisations that provide learning for apprenticeships. Their main role is to:
- help employers find apprentices
- deal with funding for training
- deliver the training part of the apprenticeship
- support employers and apprentices at every stage of the apprenticeship
How do I get started?
You're an employer and you want to offer an apprenticeship. Here's what to do:
- find a learning provider using our search
- contact any learning providers who deliver the right framework in the right location
- read these questions to ask a learning provider
It's best to choose 3 or more learning providers. Frameworks contain pathways - these are ways of delivering the apprenticeship. Different providers deliver different pathways. So it's best to explore a few options to find the right fit for your apprentice job.
How do I work with a learning provider?
You've found the right learning provider and you've agreed to work together. What happens now?
- It's time to advertise your vacancy with Apprenticeships.scot. Don't have an account with us? It's easy to sign up here.
- The learning provider organises and delivers the training in your apprenticeship programme.
- They must make sure the apprentice is registered on the programme.
- Learning providers also ensure that the apprentice completes their qualification.
Why can't I see the apprenticeship I want in the drop-down list?
Some apprenticeships might not be offered currently by learning providers, so they won't show on our list. When a learning provider offers the apprenticeship, it'll appear in the list and you can use it to find providers.
