It's designed to support those who are working in, or want to progress to, senior positions. It's suitable for employees in:

third sector organisations
NHS
After completion, the qualification allows employees to carry out supervisory and managerial roles in social work.

Entry requirements
Candidates should've completed the SCQF Level 7 Modern Apprenticeship in Social Services and Healthcare. Equivalent qualifications or work experience can be accepted in place of the SCQF Level 7 Modern Apprenticeship.
Progression and development
Once an employee completes the Social Services and Healthcare Technical Modern Apprenticeship, they'll be recognised as supervisors or managers in areas across the sector.
Your employees could progress to the SCQF Level 10 Modern Apprenticeship in Care Services Leadership and Management Professional or transfer over to the Social Services (Children and Young People) route.
How does it work?
Apprentices will learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. They’ll also study with a college or other learning provider.
Cost and funding
We contribute towards training costs
We do this by paying the learning provider throughout the apprenticeship.

An enhanced funding contribution is paid for employees aged 16 to 19. For those who are disabled and care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29.

Who pays the apprentice?
Like any other employee of your business, you’ll pay the Modern Apprentice's wages. This is not set by SDS, but we encourage all employers to pay the Living Wage.
Remember, you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take between one and two years to complete.
