Frequently asked questions about SESAP

Find answers to some SESAP-based questions we hear regularly.

It doesn't cost you anything to access SESAP. Skills Development Scotland will cover the SESAP licence costs for learning providers during the 2026/27 operating year.

Scottish Funding Council will take responsibility for SESAP in future years and funding arrangements have still to be finalised.

This means we're unable to confirm what charges, if any, may apply beyond the 2026/27 operating year.

Although both systems work similarly, they're used for completely different things!

You'll use FIPS to register apprentices, claim payments and update information.

Whereas, you'll use SESAP to complete the Self-Evaluations and Quality Action Plans issued by Skills Development Scotland.
