A Graduate Apprenticeship has transformed Dhruv Maheshwari’s passion for data science into a successful career.

Dhruv's journey
Dhruv had always been fascinated by computing, robotics and programming. Up until a few years ago, he was a shy student studying cyber security at college.
But everything changed when Dhruv was asked to complete a data science project as part of his college course. The young Glaswegian loved the problem-solving nature of data science so much that his career journey soon became hard-coded in this direction.
After sharing this new dream with his parents, Dhruv discovered a Graduate Apprenticeship opportunity with drinks company Diageo. His family were thrilled at the idea of him earning while learning.
Dhruv said, ‘My confidence has skyrocketed thanks to the supportive environment at Diageo.’

Dhruv's apprenticeship
Before starting his Graduate Apprenticeship, Dhruv described himself as 'shy and introverted'. Yet after a few days in his new role, he was confidently liaising with industry experts and senior stakeholders.
Dhruv’s main achievement is his stellar work on Diageo’s Order Management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The former HNC Cyber Security student created a new reporting system that helped the company process orders more effectively.
As part of his Graduate Apprenticeship, Dhruv spends one day per week at Glasgow Caledonian University. This technical knowledge has already proved valuable in the workplace. Recently, Dhruv used skills learned at university to automate processes – saving his team seven hours of manual work every week!
